Are Cheat Meals Ok?

I feel as though there is a misconception about living a healthy lifestyle. A handful of people who want to be healthy choose not to be healthy because of the fear of giving up the foods they love. I am healthy, I am fit, I still drink beer. It’s called balance…. balancing your diet {not to be confused with negative and positive calorie balancing… that’s another blog post}.

To be honest, I would go bonkers if I couldn’t have my indulgences. No more ice cream…For life? Not happening.

Here’s the deal, I eat very healthy 80% of the time and 20% of the time I eat the foods I love. I have a cheat meal once a week {& sometimes I have two cheat meals a week… yolo}. My cheat meals are typically on Friday or Saturday and it’s usually Mexican food, pizza or Chick-fil-a.

The picture you see attached to this blog post was our most recent trip to the beach. My BF & I are huge beach people and we love to bring our Weimaraner, Jayden. I didn’t want to totally blow off my effort of eating substantially clean and exercising fiercely for one trip to the beach. So, I packed one of my meal prep salads {which can be seen here} & a 12-pack of Corona Light. It’s was totally perfect and I felt totally ok with eating a salad and drinking a beer while chillin’ on the beach with my man & my pup {insert Bob Marley music here (; }.

It’s called balance, my friends. Eat a salad and enjoy a beer =D.

    I love how balanced and healthy your viewpoint is. Black and white thinking, either in “I could never eat that way all the time so I won’t even try” or “I can never “cheat” I must “eat clean” 100% of the time” is harmful thinking. It doesn’t allow ourselves the time and space for self-love and embracing imperfection. Thanks for having such a healthy outlook and sharing it. #eatingdisorderprevention

  2. I love this! This is why I started a blog, to let people know you can be fit, eat well, and STILL indulge in the things you love! While I’m no in quite the physical shape you are (love the triceps, I use to have them lol) I’m on the journey back, and changing my eating habits to improve my health and get my body back! It helps also to motivate others when they can look and see a change, and how hard you are working to maintain your own self! **love**
