Oil Pulling Benefits

My good friend, Colleen, introduced me to coconut oil about a year ago. {Yes, Colls has some awesome tips… like the best face moisturizer tip.. lol.} I’ve been wondering where coconut oil has been all my life after I discovered how awesome it is.

I’ll list some coconut oil facts below but first, I want to encourage you to try it for cooking, for beauty, for detox, etc. Coconut oil can be picked up at most grocery stores and it’s found in the oil section along with EVOO or in the baking section. It’s can be a bit pricey {$8 or so a jar} but it’s totally worth it.

When you first open the jar you may be surprised by the texture. It’s a white, chunky, solid texture that melts quickly. {Really selling it on the description lol}. If you keep it in your cupboards during the summer there is a good chance it will turn to the liquid form.. which is ok… just don’t be alarmed. It melts super duper fast.

I’m going to be prepping for a photo shoot to get some awesome photos from my blog, vlog and possibly enter the modeling world again {ek}. The shoot is in about two months so I thought it would be fun to do two challenges while prepping for the shoot. I oil pulled during ‘wedding season’ and it made my feel healthy and confident with white teeth! I’m not totally going to be changing my diet for the shoot but I am going to amp up my health and fitness game just a wee bit {and say bye-bye to cheat means but it’s only for a little bit!} The first one-month challenge will be an oil pulling challenging {which is this blog post} and the second will be warm lemon water  challenge {blog post to come on that}.

I start today!

There are a few different ways you can oil pull but this is how I do it…

  • Place a teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth & let it melt.
  • Swish the oil around in your mouth for 15 min or so.
  • Spit the coconut oil outside or in a bag {it can clog your pipes if you aren’t careful}.
  • Brush your teeth after pulling and dip your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide to clean off the toxins.

Boom… you’ve just detoxed your mouth, cleaned your teeth and improved your overall health.

Here are just a few reasons why coconut oil rocks:

  • Coconut oil has fatty acids {the good kind}
  • Coconut oil is super healthy
  • Coconut oil can speed up your metabolism and help you burn calories
  • Coconut oil can kill harmful pathogens
  • Coconut oil can help reduce seizures
  • Coconut oil can help reduce cholesterol levels
  • Coconut oil can whiten your teeth
  • ….& there are a billion more reasons why coconut oil rocks

Just keep swishing,
Jenn

  1. I love coconut oil! I read about it few months ago, and decided to try it out! I use it for cooking, and every other night I put coconut oil on my face overnight, and wash it in the morning. I have a mixed skin type, and the oil really helps! Great blog btw ! 🙂
